An old favorite is back!
A shared meal is often the source of inspiration, great ideas and good cheer. One such evening led to the creation of AVV’s first Zinfandel, Sin Zin. Over the decades Hank Wetzel traveled across the country pouring Sin Zin and telling the story of our family winery. A tasting in Texas led to the creation of Temptation Zinfandel. As Hank tells it, “a tall cowboy was tasting my wine and we laughed about the meaning of Sin Zin, he commented you know what leads to Sin – Temptation!” That inspired me to create Temptation Zinfandel in 2004. After many requests, we’re delighted to reintroduce the wine with an updated back label and Alexander Valley appellation.
2023 began with heavy winter rainfall that delivered much needed moisture to the vines, followed by a long, cool growing season. Harvest occurred about three weeks later than prior years, but the long hang time allowed for the development of rich flavors. At harvest, the quality of the fruit was excellent with balanced acidity and intense flavors.
Winemaker Kevin Hall blended Zinfandel, Syrah and Sangiovese for this easy drinking wine. He selected spicy Zinfandel filled with juicy berry flavors, Syrah adds depth, while the Sangiovese brings acidity and red fruits to balance the wine. Temptation Zinfandel is a casual, easy wine. Aromas of spicy berries tantalize and intrigue. Lush red cherry, red plum, blueberry, touches of raspberry, and hints of spicy black pepper fill the glass.
Juicy, jammy and spicy – this red Zinfandel will keep you coming back for more. Temptation Zinfandel is a crowd pleaser, you will need more than one bottle. This price makes it easy!
